Dr. Alexandra Tsigarida attended the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens- Dental School where she graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2008.
Following her dental training she moved to the United Kingdom where she practiced as a general dentist, serving in the National Health Service and private practice. A year later she entered the Periodontal program at the Ohio State University where she served as a chief resident. She received a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree in 2013.
Throughout her training and practice, Dr. Tsigarida has been active in promoting dentistry through her involvement in dental research focusing on the
microbiology of peri-implantitis. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and received multiple awards in international research meetings. Dr. Tsigarida is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and an active member of several national dental organizations including the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, ITI (International Team for Implantology) and International Association of Dental Research. Dr. Tsigarida served as an Assistant Professor at Kornberg School of Dentistry, Temple University from 2013-2015. She is currently an Associate Professor and Program Director of the Department of Periodontology at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, a faculty member of the Prosthodontic Program and maintains a faculty practice limited to Periodontics.
